What are all the things that you need to wirelessly connect your xbox 360 to xbox live?

If it helps any, I have an embarq 660 series modem. I got it connected to xbox live about a week ago, but after i had to unplug my modem from the phone jack, it wouldn’t be able to get pass the DNS test.
